I gave this to my grandson for his 5th birthday. He is a real candle freak and absolutely loved making his very own. He was very proud to show them to me on zoom. I'm not sure if they've been burned yet. His parents said it was great activity for him. It's not really a toy that can be played with after the candles are made, which is why I chose the middle rating on Play Value above.
This kit is wonderful! We loved it so much we wanted another one when we were done enjoying using it. The included book was also enjoyed and we learned new things from it.
I got this for my neighbor's daughter. She is very interested in art and this gives her the ability to be creative while making these with her mom. She is at the age where she enjoys making things with her hands, painting, puzzles. This candle kit gives her the ability to work with her hands.
Great craft for kids. A little science teaching them where beeswax comes from and how it's made and a lot of creativity making the candles. Love it.
I gave these to my granddaughter for her 5th birthday. We made the candles together and had fun doing it but I was expecting a more involved activity - not sure what that would be but the simple process of rolling the beeswax did not capture her attention or imagination, nor mine really.
it was a great toy. but it was expensive for only getting two candles. it should come with more material for the prices
While this isn't a 'play toy' type item, the people that bought it LOVED it. Only wished there was more product to work with.
When I ordered the kit, I thought it was going to involve dipping a wick in liquid wax. I was a little disappointed. My child still liked it and enjoyed the facts about bees. I'm not sure if the kit was worth $25.
Hello! I have to say that I really liked this product as a gift for granddaughter. She is at a perfect age for doing crafts and I wanted to buy her something that was not only fun to make but also useful that she could enjoy. The only thing that was a negative is that when the kit arrived, it did not include the instructions but rather a set of instructions for making a birdhouse (?). I called the company though and was told a set of instructions would be mailed out from the warehouse. The reason I marked in the survey, "doesn't play with it at all" is because after making, obviously she will not be playing with them. We really appreciate toys and crafts that spark curiousity and creativity and will continue to purchase products like this. Thank you so much!!
I like it but maybe not for kids over 5 years old.
This was the biggest waste of money. The beeswax sheets were brittle and difficult to roll and of poor color quality, drab and looked dirty, would have rather had natural beeswax color. The candle holder was a waste as the rolled candle wouldn't fit into the holders hole. The child I bought this for was frustrated with the beeswax falling apart as she tried to roll into a candle.
My daughter used this kit right away. She made a beautiful candle, and is looking forward to seeing how it burns. The supplemental materials are also nice. If I could change one thing, I'd have a greater number or larger sheets of beeswax included in the kit.
Very educational gift for granddaughter.
Wonderful educational value due to the importance of bees in the environment. Child was very interested in information provided and the fun activity of rolling beeswax candles. I sent this for a fifth birthday and it was very appropriate. A 6 year old sibling was equally engaged.
This is a wonderful hands on craft!
