What’s included in my Surprise Ride?

Fun for the little ones and a break for mom! We work carefully to curate and design the best activities for kids. Rides are theme-based and cover a wide variety of subjects, from art and science to food and geography, and much more. Each monthly package includes:

  • All the supplies needed to complete two projects that explore the month’s theme.
  • A book, a snack, and other fun surprises to go along with the Ride.
  • Our famous Surprise Ride booklet with lessons on the theme, interesting facts, and ways to continue the exploration.

What is the difference between a Surprise Ride subscription and a Shop purchase?

Surprise Ride subscriptions are the gifts that keep on giving! Each month, the child will receive a brand new themed Ride with all the necessary pieces to complete the experience, at their doorstep. Shop purchases are one-time gifts of our popular past themed Rides.

How does the month-to-month subscription work?

Simply sign up for a monthly subscription and a fun-filled Ride addressed to your child will arrive on your doorstep every month. If you place your order between the 1st and 14th of the month, your first renewal will take place on the 29th of the same month followed by the 15th day of each subsequent month. If you place your order between the 15th and the last day of the month, you will be billed for future Rides on the 15th day of the month.

Remember, this subscription auto-renews and you can cancel 100% hassle-free any time by sending us a quick email to [email protected] with your account email address and name. Please be sure to cancel prior to the 15th to avoid getting billed and shipped the next month’s Ride.

When will my Ride ship?

If you place your subscription order between the 1st and 14th of the month, your first Ride will ship within 2-3 business days. If you place your order between the 15th and the end of the month, your first Ride will ship out around the 6th day of the next month. For instance, for an order placed on September 12th, the first box will ship out between the 13th and 14th of September. If a subscription order is placed on September 21st, the first Ride will ship on October 6th.

All subsequent Rides ship around the 6th of the month.

You will receive a tracking email once your Ride is on its way.

Can children share a subscription?

We do not currently offer the option to add a sibling for an additional fee, but we’re working on it! The decision to share the Surprise Ride experience among siblings or order separate subscriptions for each child varies by family. Some families want to give each child the creative freedom to explore independently while others choose to share. Either makes for a fun ride.

For what ages is Surprise Ride appropriate?

Our Rides are designed for children ages 5 and up. We take great care to curate and design a wide variety of activities that children 5+ can enjoy. In some cases, a younger child may need the help of an adult, whereas, an older child may be able to independently complete the activities. Children can explore and evolve at their own pace from each unique monthly experience. Younger kids and even adults have also enjoyed our activities!

Can kids under 5 also join?

Yes, younger kids may need the help of an adult to read directions, supervise, and help complete certain projects. The Rides are all designed with room for creativity, and even adults can enjoy the much-needed time to play, exercise their imagination, and explore something new! Surprise Ride is not designed for kids younger than 3 years old due to choking hazards.

What happens at the end of a pre-paid subscription?

We will send a notification email reminding you of the subscription’s upcoming renewal date. Your subscription will renew for the same number of months as you had originally purchased. If you would like to renew for a longer term, contact us and we will extend the date. If you decide not to renew, just hit reply on the email before your renewal date and we’ll take care of it for you!

Can I skip a month?

Yes, we can pause your subscription for up to 3 months. Please email us at [email protected] and we will suspend and reactivate your subscription accordingly. Be sure to contact us before the 15th day of the month to avoid being billed for the next Ride.

What if there’s a problem with my order?

Gifting

How do I send a Surprise Ride subscription as a gift?

Gifting a Surprise Ride subscription is easy! Just go to our Order Now page and make your gift selection for a monthly, 6 month gift or 12 month gift. We encourage you to take a look at our past Rides to get a sense of what is included in each surprise box. You may also choose to add one of our popular past Rides to your gift from our Shop.

Do you offer gift-wrapping?

We do not offer gift-wrapping. All Rides arrive in our colorful signature orange and turquoise box and items are wrapped in tissue paper ready to be gifted to your lucky recipient.

Can I include a gift note?

Yes, there is a “Gift Note” field at the bottom of the checkout form. Once you type in your thoughtful note, it will be included in the recipient’s first Ride. Remember to sign it with your name if you’d like the child to know it’s from you. You can also print a greeting card to notify your lucky recipient.

If you choose not to include a personalized gift note in your Ride, don’t worry! We make sure to write a little note for the recipient to make the Surprise Ride experience even more special.

How will the child know the surprise is from me?

Our Rides come addressed to the child, so unless you include your name in the “Gift Note” field at checkout, the gift-giver will be a surprise!

Can the first month’s Ride be shipped to me and the rest to a gift recipient?

Sure, just drop us a quick note with both addresses at [email protected] right after you place your order and we’ll take care of the rest! You can also manage the shipping address from your My Account page.

Do you have anything I can give to the recipient while they wait for their first ride?

Absolutely! If you’d like to inform your recipient of their new membership to Surprise Ride, please download one of our greeting cards to hand in person or send via email.

How can I renew a gift?

All subscriptions automatically renew so you don’t have to worry about managing your gift or missing out on an upcoming theme. We know how busy you are and now you have one less thing to worry about! You will receive an email notification before your gift is scheduled to renew.

What can I buy in the Shop?

We offer a variety of our most popular Limited Edition past Rides. They make the perfect gift for a loved one or a chance to catch up on any past themes you’ve missed.

When will my order ship?

Rides ship within 1-2 business days and delivery takes 1-5 days. You will receive a tracking email once your Ride is on its way.

Do you accept returns?

We do not accept returns on Shop products unless an item is damaged. If you have an issue with your box, please contact us at [email protected] and one of our Surprise Ride Co-Captains will personally assist you!

Is it possible to purchase past themes that aren’t listed in the Shop?

At this time, only the Rides that you see on the Shop page are available for purchase. We have carefully chosen the most popular past Rides. Sign up for our newsletter to hear about new Ride announcements.

Do you restock your sold out Shop Rides?

We are always working to restock our popular past Rides. Reach out to us at [email protected] and we can let you know if we have an ETA on a sold out box. We’re always happy to suggest alternative Rides that are just as exciting and fun!


My Account

When will I be billed for my monthly subscription?

If you place your monthly subscription order between the 1st and 15th of the month, your first renewal will be on the 29th of the same month and all future renewals will take place on the 15th of the month. For subscription orders placed between the 15th and last day of the month, you will be charged on the 15th day of subsequent months for your next Rides.

How do I update my billing or payment information?

It’s easy to update your account info by logging into your account. Your username is the email you used to create an account and can be found in your welcome email. You can also easily reset your password from the My Account page if you can’t remember it. If you ever need help logging in, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time by sending a quick email to [email protected] with your name and account email address. Please cancel before the 15th day of the month to avoid getting billed and shipped the next month’s ride.

Pre-paid subscriptions (6 or 12 month) are only eligible for cancellation after the initial prepaid term has been completed. During the initial term, we can happily transfer the subscription to another recipient. Please log into your account to change the recipient’s name and shipping address or reach out to us at [email protected] and we’ll do it for you.

Can I return one of my Rides?

We do not accept returns. We strive to curate and design the best activities for children. All projects have been tested with kids to ensure fun, hands-on learning. If you are unhappy with one of your Rides, we’d love to hear about it. Please contact us at [email protected] as we strive to continuously improve your experience.

Can I change the address throughout the life of my subscription?

Yes. Please log-in to your account to change the recipient’s name and shipping address. Since we begin preparations for shipment on the first of the month, the address must be updated no later than the last day of the prior month.

Is my credit card and personal information secure?

Absolutely. All payment and sensitive information on Surprise Ride is protected with an encrypted Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Our site is PCI Compliant and is rigorously tested to ensure the utmost security.

How can I make sure I receive Surprise Ride emails?

Once in a while our messages can end up in your email’s Junk or Spam folders. Please make sure to check your Junk and Spam folders if you are not receiving emails about your account and mark messages from Surprise Ride as “not spam”.


Shipping

When can I expect my first shipment?

If you place your subscription order between the 1st and 14th of the month, your first Ride will ship within 2-3 business days. If you place your order between the 15th and the end of the month, your first Ride will ship out around the 6th day of the next month. How will my Surprise Ride package ship?

All Surprise Rides ship via USPS or UPS.

Can I track my shipment?

Yes. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order has shipped. Please allow 24-48 hours for the tracking information to be updated on the carrier’s website after you receive your shipping confirmation email.

My order has shipped but tracking information is unavailable on the carrier’s website.

Tracking information may not be available for the first 24-48 hours after you receive your shipping confirmation email. If it’s been more than 48 hours and you are still having trouble tracking your package, contact us at [email protected].

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we only ship in the United States (including Hawaii, Alaska, and APO addresses). If you’d like us to ship abroad, contact us by email to [email protected].

What if one of the products is broken or damaged?

We strive to ensure top quality in every Ride. If you receive a broken or damaged item, please contact us ASAP at [email protected] and we’ll take care of it right away!
